Question: I’m an international client, can I still join one of the PGA IGI courses?

Answer:
Yes, we welcome clients from all around the world. The PGA IGI stands for the PGA International Golf Institute, and our courses are written to reflect the global nature of golf.

Question: What courses are available through the PGA IGI?

Answer:
Currently there are a number of courses on offer from a combined Degree/ Diploma, Diploma only, Distance Learning Diploma through to Certificate level courses. For full details on our courses please visit our website www.pgaigi.com

Question: Are there age restrictions for entry into the PGA IGI programs?

Answer:
Domestic Clients:  No, as long as a client is 18 years or older in their first year of study and meet the other entry criteria ,they are then suitable for entry into a PGA IGI course. Currently we have clients who are in their forties, so age is no limit!

International Clients:  Yes, a client must be 18 years of age or older prior to commencing a progam and meet the other entry criteria, they are then suitable for entry into a PGA IGI course. Currently we have clients who are in their forties, so age is no limit!

Question: How long does the course take to complete?

Answer:
Depending on which course you chose  and if you are domestic or internationl, determines the amount of time it will take to complete. The combined Degree/Diploma course is a three year full time course, however it can also be done part-time over six years (domestic client sonly). Question: How much do the courses cost?

Answer:
Again depending on which course you choose will depend on the course fees. The duration of your stay, end qualification and course inclusions all determine the fee structure. We encourage you to visit our website www.pgaigi.com for further details on our courses, including fees.

Question: How do I apply?

Answer:
Clients wishing to enrol into the combined Degree/Diploma course will need to apply to both Griffith University and the PGA IGI separately. Please refer to the prospectus which will give you a detailed explanation regarding this process. The PGA IGI application form can be downloaded from our website www.pgaigi.com or can be emailed to you by contacting our office on (07) 55 977 800. For all other courses the PGA IGI application for is the only application form necessary. Clients should endeavour to submit all required information requested in the application forms, otherwise this can delay the enrolment process.

Question: What are my options after studying?

Answer:
The course you study will generally help provide suitable career options for you. Most of our clients generally have an idea of what they are hoping to achieve with their studies before they commence with the PGA IGI. During their time with us, we endeavour to nurture our clients during their course, helping provide them with as much work experience or exposure to their particular areas of interests. We generally find this helps provide them with clear direction as to the path they would like to follow when they have graduated. Traditionally our clients tend to follow careers in the following areas both in Australia and overseas; Golf Club Management, Golf Operations, Sales and Marketing within the industry, Golf Course Design, Coaching Professional, Playing Professional, Product Procurement, Retail Managers, Event Management, Media Roles, Greens keeper or Administrator. Some of these roles may require further study or experience. Part of our commitment to our clients is helping them find suitable career options, we endeavour to use our industry networks to source suitable vacancies or contacts for our graduating clients.

Question: What is your Client to Coach ratio?

Answer:
We limit client numbers to 10 per class which allows our coaches ample time with individual clients. As we use two different coaching academies, our clients occasionally have access to two or three coaches during their stay, which allows them a greater variety of knowledge.

Question: Where is the PGA IGI Located?

Answer:
The PGA IGI has offices at Royal Pines on the Gold Coast. Being Based in Queensland, Australia allows our clients access to some of the best courses in the country, year round golfing conditions and an excellent standard of living.

Question: Do you offer credit transfer?

Answer:
Clients wishing to apply for a PGA IGI course may apply for credit transfer based on prior study or work experience. Each application will be accessed individually and supporting documentation will be required in all cases. You will likely need to send academic transcripts, course documentation and content and a current resume. We advise you speak directly with a member of staff who can help provide further details. Applications for credit transfer into Griffith University must be done directly with the University, the PGA IGI cannot assist in this process. For more details please contact Griffith University Admissions Department directly. Please Note: We do not accept applications for RPL/MR/Credit transfer after you have commenced your program of study.

Question: What is included in my course fees?

Answer:
Inclusions are determined by which course you elect to complete. All of our courses include tuition fees and supporting materials like text books and study aids. Question: Where will I play golf during my studies?

Answer:
Clients doing our face to face courses which have practical golf units will play most of their golf at Robina Woods Golf Club and The Colonial Golf Club. Both courses are semi private and offer very different layouts whilst captivating the natural beauty of the surrounds. Robina Woods is nestled into undulating bushland with some very challenging holes, and is rated within the Top 100 Golf Courses in Australia by Australian Golf Digest magazine. The Colonial is water lined and it’s narrow fairways help develop a clients sense of accuracy and course management. The PGA IGI also has relationships with many of the Gold Coast’s other courses which offer PGA IGI clients discounted rates and green fees.

Question: Is funding available for clients?

Answer:
The Australian Government has announced that Fee Help will likely be available in the near future for clients studying in the VET sector. The announcement was made in early 2008, however a confirmed date for Fee Help (domestic clients only) to become available is yet to be released. For more information please visit www.dest.gov.au and follow the links to VET Fee Help. For those undertaking the combined Degree/Diploma HECS (domestic clients only)is available for the University portion of the course, the PGA IGI component is Full Fee Paying at this stage, until Fee-Help becomes available.

Question: What and when is orientation?

Answer:
Orientation is held over a two day period, usually two weeks prior to the commencement of classes. During this time clients have the opportunity to meet the PGA IGI team, mingle with fellow clients and get familiar with their new surrounds. Clients usually have the opportunity to showcase their skills on the golf course and collect the information they will require for the year ahead. Orientation is a compulsory event for all new and continuing clients.

Question: Who owns the PGA IGI?

Answer:
The PGA IGI is owned by the PGA of Australia (Professional Golfers Association). This gives our clients reassurance in the qualifications they earn and the value of the education once they enter the workforce. The PGA of Australia is considered on of the best peak bodies in the world.

Question: How long has the Program been in operation?

Answer:
The Program has been in operation for 15 years, however the PGA IGI as it’s operated today was formally started in 2005.

Question: Do you have campus accommodation?

Answer:
No, however the links provided in the prospectus will give you a starting point when looking for accommodation. We can also put you in touch with new or continuing clients who may be looking to share accommodation, this has become the preferred option for most of our clients. Clients can elect to rent a house or an apartment and share the costs between them, giving them flexible living arrangements and the opportunity to choose the quality or standard of their living arrangements. The Gold Coast offers basic accommodation through to fully furnished golf villas.

Question: When and where are classes held?

Answer:
Classes vary from semester to semester however most academic classes are scheduled in the early evening allowing clients to work, play, practice complete their University studies. Practical golfing sessions and tournament rounds will be played during the day, generally in the morning to allow for client free time for the remainder of the day.
